Facial Rejuvenation

Facial Rejuvination

Facial rejuvenation is one of the most recent forms of acupuncture used in the West, and should only be carried out by qualified professional acupuncturists who have had post – graduate training in the technique.

The process involves not just local application of needles, but is a whole body balancing treatment; it is not just about beauty, but also about health. If the interior of the body is healthy and balanced, the exterior will reflect that state. These balances are maintained by acupuncture, diet and change of lifestyle. Therefore when treating the skin, the state of the internal organs is always assessed and treated as well.

A typical session of facial acupuncture lasts from 1- 1 ½ hours and involves distal acupuncture points on the arms and legs as well as points on the face, the site and type of which depend on what is being treated. A series of 6 – 8 sessions is required as the effects are cumulative, thereafter top ups can be done as and when the patient feels they need it, anything from monthly, twice yearly, at the change of the seasons, or yearly.

As well as acupuncture, a gentle form of Gua Sha is used to reduce fine lines and lift skin. Plum Blossom hammer, a small 7-needle head device can also be used to lift saggy skin and reduce puffiness especially around the eyes.

A facial massage usually completes the treatment session.

The results of the treatment depend on the individual patient, and results vary from gently brightening to dramatic changes. The results are however subtle with most people being told how well they look after the first 2 or 3 treatments. Patients who have facial rejuvenation also start to feel better in themselves as the internal imbalances are resolved. This is reflected in them looking brighter and fresher.
