I graduated from the Collage of Integrated Chinese medicine in 2010, gaining a BSc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture, studying both the traditional chinese medicine methods, and 5 element chinese medicine, and receiving a Licentiate in Acupuncture. The two different methods combine a physical as well as emotional healing for entire system well-being.
I discovered how effective acupuncture is many years ago, as I was suffering terribly from hay fever, and upon embarking on treatement for myself, discovered the collective effect of acupuncture as not only did my hayfever disappear, but I was left invigorated and more energised.
I worked as a senior occupational therapist before becoming an acupuncturist, as part of a multi-disciplinary team in private physical rehabilitation hospitals treating patients with chronic pain. However, I became increasingly disillusioned by the way western medicine treated the long term suffering and rehabilitation of these patients.
I started looking for a holistic form of treatment that would help a person not only feel better, but also actively engage with them, to help maintain and develop their good health. Through my own acupuncture treatments, I could see that acupuncture offered so much more, especially for conditions that western medicine had difficulty in treating effectively; those conditions that had an ambiguous diagnosis and no apparent cause to be treated.
Since qualifying, I have continued my education in chinese medicine, through a variety of continuous professional development, a postgraduate qualification in facial rejuvenation acupuncture and the balance method, as well as travelling to China to study and practise under the masters there.
